The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr. David Hoyle, is leading Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and is described as an exemplary professional responsible for everything spiritual in Westminster Abbey.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will be broadcasted live on TV. It can be heard on the radio or watched online. The Dean of Westminster, the very Reverend Dr. David Hoyle MBE, will lead it. He will conduct the procedures in true Westminster tradition in laying rest to the longest-serving female monarch of the United Kingdom.

The funeral is to be held at the Royal Abbey, Westminster, and like all monarchs, before Queen Elizabeth II, she would be laid to rest here.

Dr. Hoyle’s Background

Dr. Hoyle studied History and Theology with a BA from Corpus Christi College of Cambridge in 1980 after growing up in Lancashire, where he was born in 1957. He joined as a deacon in the Church of England in 1986 and became a priest in 1987.

A brief profile of all the posts Dr. Hoyle has held while in his spiritual quest. Rev Hoyle was the Chaplain and fellow at the Magdalene College in Cambridge, followed by the Vicar of Christ Church in Southgate and the Director of Ministry and Canon at Gloucester Cathedral. Dr. Hoyle became the Dean of Westminster in 2019 after the retirement of John Hall. He also held the post of the Dean of Bristol.

He has also conducted the memorial service of the Duke of Edinburgh, the late Queen Elizabeth’s husband, and exceptional service for Dame Vera Lynn, celebrating her accomplishments as a singer and entertainer. Dr. Hoyle also conducted the Grenfell fire tragedy funeral service at Westminster Abbey, where 72 people died.

Dr. Hoyle has been given the honor of conducting the service, which will be done in full accordance, and his experience with him. His years of excellent service and how he has conducted himself over the various circumstances for the Royals and the people of his country have stood in good stead. He would indeed conduct the Queen’s funeral in the appropriate manner possible and pay due respects to the departed soul on behalf of the nation.
