In a tragic incident, Derry, a 12-year-old rescue dog, had to be put down by owners after the dog suffered continuous fits while being scared of Bonfire Night fireworks. According to the couple, Derry was “scared to death” due to a private fireworks display near their home in Desford, Leicestershire. The tri-coloured collie belonged to Sarah and Mark Frost, who adopted Derry in 2018.

According to a Mirror report, Mark found Derry in utter distress, thrashing himself on the floor. The owner said that the dog had lost control over his body, as he kept urinating and defecating and was not able to walk or move. Sarah returned home to find her husband holding the dog downstairs, while Derry could only move his eyes.

The couple rushed the dog to the hospital. However, the vet informed the owners that Derry’s heart rate was 190, and he had a high temperature, and the most merciful thing to do was to put the dog down, leaving the owners devasted. Doctors indicated that the dog got so scared of the firework noise that he lost control of himself.
