'Doctor Who' gears up for major spin-off in ground-breaking new deal with Disney+
Whouniverse’s "Doctor Who" spin-off is developing after last month’s BBC and Disney+ deal worth tens of millions. Whouniverse is expected to be the same as Marvel spin-offs.

In a massive Disney+ agreement, "Doctor Who" antagonists Daleks and Cybermen will receive their spin-off series. The spin-off follows the BBC’s tens of millions arrangement with Disney+ last month. The BBC sold the global streaming rights to Doctor Who to Disney+ outside of the UK.
A source claimed that fans might expect to see Sontarans, Sea Devils, and Weeping Angels in different series illustrating what they get up to when the Doctor isn’t there to stop them.

Russell T Davies, the showrunner, is moving ahead with plans to extend the Whouniverse with Marvel-style spin-offs. Last year, Davies stated that these fascinating new initiatives drew him back to the BBC, and he even hinted at the possibility of a dedicated Doctor Who channel. New methods of presenting tales that have never been done before are coming up. So, it simply feels new; he wouldn’t have returned if it didn’t feel fresh.
The showrunner has already extended the Doctor Who world with Torchwood, starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, and The Sarah Jane Adventures, starring Elisabeth Sladen.
