Bruce Montague, who was well known for his performances in Butterflies and Doctor Who, passed away at 83. His death was confirmed by his agent.

Veteran actor Bruce Montague passed away at 83, his agent confirmed his death. The skilled legend known for his work on Hollyoaks, a Channel 4 soap, and Doctor Who, will always be remembered by the entertainment world and his fans. He had a successful career on screen and stage.

Talent Agency Belfield and Ward declared Bruce's death earlier this week. They added Bruce Montague was a gentleman with excellent talent and career and will be sorely missed.

In his impressive career, the actor appeared in more than 300 television productions and was initially popular as Leonard Dunn of the television sitcom Butterflies.


He made his Doctor Who debut in the audio drama The Genocide Machine in 2000. He appeared in Sword of Orion alongside Paul McGann.

Bruce played the guest role of Derek Clough in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks for a long time. He also appeared in New Tricks alongside Nicholas Lyndhurst and shared the screen with Wendy Craig on the BBC show Doctors.

He starred alongside Darius Campbell Danesh in the 2016 production of Funny Girl at The Savoy theatre in London. The news of Montague's sad demise has come just a few days after Darius Campbell Danesh passed away at 41.

Apart from his fascinating television career, Bruce played the role of Mr Brownlow for three years in Sam Mendes-directed Oliver, at the London Palladium.

He filled theatres in London with his performance as Firman in The Phantom of the Opera.
