Donald Trump once bombarded the royal with flowers in an attempt to court Princess Diana, according to her friend.

Following the reopening ceremony of Notre Dame Cathedral on December 6, Prince William met Donald Trump. The U.S. president-elect reported that the two had a great conversation, but Princess Diana, the royal's late mother, was probably not discussed.

According to an article by her friend Selina Scott, Trump allegedly had a slight crush on the People's Princess in the 1990s. This story has been resurfacing since William met with the president-elect, as quoted in a report by Marie Claire.

Trump obviously saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife, Scott wrote in a 2015 Sunday Times story, adding that he showered Diana at Kensington Palace with enormous bouquets of flowers, each worth hundreds of pounds.

As the roses and orchids piled up at her flat she became increasingly concerned about what she should do, wrote Scott. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her.

"He gives me the creeps," Diana told Scott when she asked for advice on the matter, and the broadcaster advised her to just throw them in the bin. Trump, however, denied having feelings for Princess Diana after the story gained traction, telling Piers Morgan that Scott's allegations were totally false.

What’s Trump's reaction to the allegations?

Trump remarked that he liked her. They were all shaking hands when he first saw her in New York, and that was the only time he ever saw her. It was completely untrue when he read that he was phoning her or something.

He went on to say that he was not interested from that perspective. However, when I did meet her, I found her to be very attractive.

When Trump returned to the Howard Stern Show in 2000, the divisive radio host questioned, "Would you have slept with her?" Regarding Diana, Trump retorted, "Without even hesitation," as quoted in a report by Marie Claire.
