Although Littler, who is just under three weeks away from turning 17, initially faced some nerves and dropped the opening set, he swiftly seized control with an extraordinary display of scoring and precision on double shots.
As the youngest player ever to reach the championship final, Littler left the 2018 champion, Rob Cross, in awe of his fellow Englishman's prowess on the dartboard. Despite trailing for the first time in the tournament, Littler impressively won six consecutive legs, showcasing a level of clinical performance that proved too much for his more experienced opponent. The victory was sealed with his reliable double 10.
Littler's path to the final included notable wins over five-times world champion Raymond Van Barneveld (4-1) in the last 16 on Saturday and a convincing 5-1 triumph against 50-year-old Brendan Dolan in the quarter-finals on Monday.
In the final showdown on Wednesday, the English teenager will face the winner between Scott Williams and Luke Humphries. It's worth noting that no unseeded player has ever claimed victory in the PDC World Darts Championship.
Littler told Sky Sports: "I was happy to win one game and now I can go all the way. It's not easy. You are playing Rob, he is a world champion who won on debut. I've got no words."
Asked about his preparation for Wednesday's final, Littler added: "I'll be doing what I've been doing. In the morning I'll go for my ham and cheese omelette and then come here, have a pizza and then prep on the board. That is what I've done every day."
