Two-hour delay:
According to National Highways, the closure of the major road bridge on Monday caused a two-hour delay during rush hours. On the anti-clockwise carriageway, there were six miles of congestion, and in the opposite direction, it was five miles long. With slow-moving traffic of about 1.5 miles, the delays were also building on Tuesday, said National Highways.
Further, it told road users to “consider alternative routes” and advised them not to travel to the Dartford Crossing.
‘Very complex’:
An Essex police spokesperson said they are working to identify the quickest and safest way to “resolve the situation” by collaborating with their partners.
