Darren Till loses to Dricus Du Plesis, says he pulled ACL during fight

UFC star Darren Till, a former welterweight championship contender, fought Dricus Du Plesis for three rounds before suddenly dropping out the moment a rear naked choke was put in.

Darren Till told UFC analyst Bruce Buffer that he sustained an ACL injury in the fight against Dricus Du Plessis on Saturday evening in Las Vegas. The Liverpool native battled at the main event of UFC 282 alongside fellow Scouser Paddy Pimblett, who won the co-main event against Jared Gordon.

But Till’s fortunes were not as favourable as he battled to get started before engaging in a back-and-forth war with the South African that culminated in a third-round submission.

Till was punched heavily in the opening round as Du Plessis sought to end the fight with a seemingly never-ending barrage of blows. But it looked like letting his opponent punch himself out worked in Till's favour as he could seize control of the fight in the second round.
