Darren Fletcher's son Tyler switches international allegiance back to Scotland from England
Tyler Fletcher, the 16-year-old son of football figure Darren Fletcher, has switched his international allegiance back to Scotland after previously representing England. The young midfielder, who recently joined Manchester United's academy, has pl...

However, Tyler's recent appearance for Scotland's U17 team in a gripping Euros qualifier against Belarus hints at a potential trajectory towards his ancestral football roots. Although Tyler's twin brother, Jack, has also treaded a similar path, having dual representation for both England and Scotland, he didn't participate in the Belarus fixture.
While Jack, a fellow midfielder, remains open to the possibility of pledging his commitment to Scotland, there exists no ambiguity regarding their father Darren's loyalty. The former Scotland captain, with an illustrious career at Manchester United spanning 342 games and an impressive tally of 13 trophies, continues to serve the club as its technical director.
Darren played a pivotal role in persuading both Tyler and Jack to transition to Old Trafford during the recent summer transfer window, with United securing the duo from Manchester City for a reported fee of around £1.25 million. Tyler took to social media to express his enthusiasm, stating, "Happy to have signed for Manchester United. Looking forward to the future," while Jack embraced the move as his "next challenge."
Their significant step drew commendation from football veterans such as Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Phil Bardsley, as well as from fellow United teammates and young talents. Notably, Tyler, who has previously captained Scotland, seems poised to follow in the footsteps of other footballers born in England who eventually chose to represent Scotland at the international level. This list includes notable names like Che Adams, Angus Gunn, Oli McBurnie, and the prominent United midfielder Scott McTominay, whose stellar performances have solidified his status as one of Scotland's premier players, despite his Lancashire roots.
Reflecting on his decision to represent Scotland, McTominay had remarked, "I wanted to play for Scotland, and I always have done, since I was a young boy, so it was an incredibly proud moment when he (then Scotland manager Alex McLeish) did call me up," when he received his first call-up at the age of 21 back in 2018.
