Before the Conservative Party's convention in Birmingham, a young Conservative has called the city a dump. Daniel Grainger, the chairman and operations lead for the YoungConNetwork, remarked in a now-deleted tweet: Birmingham is a dump.

West Midlands Mayor Andy Street responded to Grainger, saying that off you go, and take everyone who shares your views with you.

He also advised him to take some time to mature and realise why this city is so great while he was gone. He went on to say that while he is a Conservative, he is also a bloody proud Brummie. He also added that he will not allow anybody who has never lived or breathed in this area to bring it down, media reports said.

Meanwhile, Labour MP Jess Phillips responded to Grainger's divisive post, stating he saw the Conservatives doing their best to endear themselves.

Grainger eventually apologised, calling his message "ill-conceived," but this isn't the first time he's tweeted about his dislike for the city.
