Dancing On Ice: Holly Willoughby to return as host alongside Stephen Mulhern

Amidst rumors of Holly Willoughby's departure from Dancing on Ice, her return as host is confirmed, with Stephen Mulhern taking over Phillip Schofield's role. As the upcoming season promises celebrity contestants and a reunion after two decades, t...

Despite earlier speculations of Holly Willoughby leaving Dancing on Ice after her exit from This Morning in October, she will indeed continue as the host.

Stephen Mulhern is set to replace her previous co-host, Phillip Schofield, who left This Morning in May amid admissions of dishonesty regarding an affair with a younger colleague.

The upcoming season of Dancing on Ice, featuring celebrities like Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford, is scheduled to premiere next month.

Ryan Thomas, former Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, ex-boxing champion Ricky Hatton, and Hannah Spearitt—one of the original members of pop group S Club 7—are also part of the lineup.

Schofield had co-hosted the ice skating competition with Willoughby since 2006. Willoughby and Mulhern initially collaborated on the children's show Ministry of Mayhem in the mid-noughties, later retitled as Holly & Stephen's Saturday Showdown.

Mulhern, currently presenting Deal or No Deal on ITV, briefly stepped in alongside Willoughby for the skating competition in 2022 when Schofield tested positive for coronavirus.

ITV's head of entertainment commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe, expressed, "Reuniting Holly and Stephen, beloved presenters, after two decades for Dancing on Ice marks the beginning of an exciting year for the show."

The judging panel, consisting of Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo, and Oti Mabuse, will also make a return.

Holly Willoughby, who spent 14 years on ITV's This Morning, announced her departure "for me and my family" following a brief absence from the show. This decision came after a man was charged with soliciting to commit murder in an alleged plot to kidnap the TV presenter.

Mulhern, the host of ITV game shows Catchphrase and Deal Or No Deal, recently became a close friend of Holly. Last week, he inked a deal to host Dancing On Ice after agreeing to fill Schofield's role. ITV didn't have a backup for Ms. Willoughby, leaving all hopes resting on her.

Preparing for Holly's comeback as ITV's golden girl, audiences witnessed her brief return to This Morning in a Wednesday highlights episode.

It marked her first appearance on ITV1 since stepping away, as This Morning showcased a festive compilation featuring clips from the past 12 months, including a July segment with Willoughby.
