Critics of Rishi Sunak having a field day as Gavin Williamson resigns

Gavin Williamson quit his position on Tuesday after recent accusations of bullying. The allegations were becoming a distraction for him and preventing him from doing good work, Williamson said.

The resignation has given enough fodder to the critics of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as they question his judgment in selecting his cabinet.

Williamson said in his letter addressed to PM Sunak that he acknowledges the inquiry that's going on him regarding a text he sent to one of his colleagues.




Gavin said that he is in complete compliance with the process and would like to apologize for those messages, which were in the past. There have been other recent allegations too about his conduct, although he refuted them as unfounded.

Williamson has decided to stop working as a government official and wants to fully cooperate with the complaints process that is underway and clear his name of any wrongdoing.

Reportedly, PM Sunak accepted his resignation with profound sadness. Sunak also thanked Williamson for his years of loyalty and personal support.

This is not the first time Gavin Williamson has been sacked from the government. In fact this would be his fourth time!

He was dismissed from the defence secretary service in 2019 when he was accused of leaking sensitive government information.
