Commonwealth Games 2022: Cycling time trial begins today
With a full house in the iconic West Park, Wolverhampton is hosting Cycling time trial. In addition to the ticket-only viewing area at West Park, parts of Dudley and south Staffordshire are also included in the event.

While men's route is 23.2 miles, the women will have to ride for 18 miles. Cyclists compete against themselves as well as the clock in the race.
From 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., many road closures are placed in Dudley and Wolverhampton. This is as long as the event goes on. Goldthorn Hill, the A 459 Wolverhampton Road East and Penn Road are also closed.
🎉 If you've been inspired by the cycling skills on show this morning, why not join in yourself at our FREE Festival site at Old Market Square? You can see all the action on our big screen as well as enjoying live music, films and family activities #CWGWolves #B2022 pic.twitter.com/JKCqFLsRuy

Parking restrictions will also be in effect along the entire route. The women's event will start at 10 a.m., while the men's will start at 12 p.m. Even as the ticketed viewing area in the West Park has been sold out well in advance, spectators will still be able to watch the cyclists in action as they travel the route. Of course, up to August 4 at 6 p.m.
In addition, Old Market Square will host a free festival location. The event will be streaming the action live on a huge screen from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A kid's ride, several kinds of foods and drink vendors, and "have a go" cycling activities are also available.
A ticketed viewing area is available in West Park, and it extends as far south as Dudley.
