Christmas shopping: Here are supermarket opening & closing times you need to know

Christmas is just a few days away and many stores will be open for reduced hours and even closed on Boxing Day. Before stepping out into the cold, look out to see if your local branch is open.

On Christmas eve, stores around shut earlier than usual or remain closed. However, this festive season we have compiled a list which tells you the opening and closing times of stores you should be aware of before heading out.

1. Lidl opening hours for Christmas 2022

December 23: Most branches will be open from 7 am to 10 or 11 pm, based on your location.

Christmas Eve: 24-hour stores will close at 6 or 7 pm, while non-24-hour branches will open at 6 am. They will close early, around 6-7 pm, varying as per the location.


Christmas Day: All branches will be closed on December 25.

Boxing Day: Most locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

December 27: Most branches will open at 7 or 8 a.m., with closing hours varying by location. Some stores will close at 8 pm, while others will remain open until 10 p.m.

December 23: Most branches will 10 pm from 7 am to 10 pm, depending on your local's location.

Christmas Eve: Branch hours vary depending on location, but most stores open from 7 am to 6 pm

Christmas Day: All branches will be closed on December 25.

Boxing Day: As in previous years, Aldi is giving its employees an additional day off during the holiday season, with all branches closed on Boxing Day.

Boxing Day: All Iceland branches are closed on Boxing Day, giving employees a day off.

December 27: Hours vary, but many branches will open around 8 a.m. and close between 8 pm and 10 pm
