Christmas parade killer Darrell Brooks gets 1,067 years of sentence, judge breaks down in tears, says 'heart-wrenching'

Darrell Brooks, the man who killed six people at the Waukesha march, was given six life sentences after being found guilty of the same number of charges of intentional murder.

After hearing the testimonies of his victims, the judge cried and ordered to remove him from the courtroom at least twice while he awaited his punishment for the murder of six people. The court symbolically extended the life terms by at least 1,067 years to emphasize the seriousness of the crimes for which Brooks was found to have shown "no sorrow, no empathy."

The 40-year-old Brooks was sentenced after being found guilty on October 26 of all 76 criminal charges, including the six counts of deliberate killing, by a circuit court jury in Waukesha. Judge Jennifer Dorow, who has sparred with self-represented Brooks throughout the trial, cried as she remembered seeing the events unfold.


The judge reacted, stating, "It's hard not to think about what I watched and not have this reaction."

Darrell Brooks also made an attempt to prove in court that his SUV had been recalled because of a gear issue, claiming he had no desire to harm anybody and that he had blown the horn as he passed through the crowd.

Dorow said to Brooks, "You show no remorse at all for everything you do, you have no compassion for anybody”. "Mr. Brooks, nobody is safe from you”.

She gave Brooks 17.5 years in prison for each of the 61 charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon after hearing him speak for more than two hours on November 16.
