On Christmas eve a mother in France found her son who was presumed to be dead for the last 10 years. Nicholas, son to Joyce Curtis, had gone missing a decade ago. He left his home in Glasgow in the mid-2000s to explore the world after losing his job. He wanted to spend his time Hitchhiking and Joyce believed it was a good choice to lay off some steam.

After months of no contact between the duo, she had even filed a missing persons report in 2009. Receiving no updates on his whereabouts she had presumed him dead.

A year later, in 2010 she received the news days before Christmas that he was alive in a hospital in France but somehow he went missing again. She told the reporters that she had presumed with the pandemic and living conditions in France, her son might have died and shall never return.

This story took a turn on December 19 when she received another call informing her that Nicholas had been admitted to a hospital in the south of France and expected a visit from his parents.
