This year's Christmas Day bank holiday has been moved from December 25 to a new date in the United Kingdom.

If the celebratory day falls on the weekend as it does this year when it falls on a Sunday, an alternative day becomes a bank holiday instead. It is therefore scheduled to happen on December 27 instead of December 25, the day which follows Boxing Day.

The New Year's bank holiday will happen on January 2.

After a Conservative cabinet minister backed a bank holiday for King Charles' coronation day, the news of the Christmas Bank Holiday broke.

It is widely expected that King Charles III will be crowned at Westminster Abbey in June next year, but no date has been confirmed so far.

It might be around June 2, 70 years to the day after King Charles III's mother Queen Elizabeth II was crowned.
