With nearly two decades at the top of Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner's future as team principal is now on the line, as per a report.

Disappointing 2025 Season Sparks Christian Horner's Exit Talks

Even after guiding the team to several world championships and presiding over the ascension of Max Verstappen, Red Bull's poor start to the 2025 Formula 1 season has put Horner in the spotlight, according to The Mirror.

Horner may be ousted as soon as this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, reported German outlet oe24.


Potential Replacement Candidates

While, two candidates are already lined up to replace him, as per the report. One of the candidates is former Alpine principal Oliver Oakes, who left the team last week after just nine months in charge, as per The Mirror. Another potential contender is Franz Tost, who served as chief of Alpha Taura, now known as Racing Bulls, for three years between 2020 and 2023, according to the report.

Conflicting Reports on Horner’s Status

But, according to a Mail Sport report, Horner's position is not currently under threat.

Experienced Voices Weigh In

However, ex-F1 race engineer Julien Simon-Chautemps said he wouldn't be surprised if Horner was removed from his position, reported The Mirror. He said, "Nothing is impossible," adding, "He’s the longest-standing team principal in the pit lane at the moment. But last year, it was very difficult for him. He was in a very dangerous situation," quoted The Mirror.

Chautemps also mentioned, "It wouldn’t surprise me if Horner left. Formula 1 is a fast-moving environment, and a lot can happen very quickly. We’ll have to wait and see," as quoted in the report.
