The Brighton boxer was rocked by a massive uppercut in the fourth round of their Manchester bout on Saturday, and the referee waved the fight off as a consequence.

Eubank Jr. was left dazed by Smith's attack, continuing to fight on after the fight was called off, seemingly oblivious that he had lost, with his opponent's trainer Joe McNally running into the ring to catch the bewildered fighter. A big swelling emerged under Eubank Jr's right eye within minutes of the ruling.

Eubank Jr. has a rematch clause and might face Smith again in the future, with Anfield as a prospective venue. The Brighton boxer indicated his intention to exercise that provision after the bout.

'Congratulations,' Eubank Jr said in the ring. 'He had a nice shot on me.' The build-up was the build-up, and it became a little nasty at the end. That was something I later regretted. I have always respected you and your family.

'If the supporters want to witness a rematch, we can arrange it at Anfield. 'Much respect, man.'
