China has criticized the US, UK, and Australia for their decision to establish a new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines, stating that it represents a step in a dangerous direction. After a meeting between Rishi Sunak, Joe Biden, and Anthony Albanese in San Diego, they announced the next phase of the AUKUS partnership plan, which led to the formation of the pact.

As part of its efforts to counter Chinese activities in the Pacific Ocean, Australia will receive nuclear-powered submarines through the plan. However, China's foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin criticized the move and reported that the international community's concerns had been ignored by the three countries involved.

The three countries involved have emphasized that the pact will not heighten the risk of nuclear proliferation, as the submarines will only be equipped with conventional weapons and the nuclear reactors will be sealed shut. Mr. Sunak reiterated the goal of the partnership, which is to maintain the freedom of the oceans through the use of advanced attack submarines.
