Bronson, now known as Charles Salvador appeared before the parole board with a shaven head in the latest bid to seek freedom from jail after spending most part of the last 48 years in jail. As per reports, the parole board panel heard that UK's most notorious prisoner would not cope with being out in public.

The panel heard that Brosnan spends nearly 23 hours in his cell daily and is only in talks with three other prisoners. His prison offender manager, the first witness in the hearing, said that the 70-year-old lacks the skills to cope with being freed from jail.

Brosnan was wearing a suit along with his trademark round sunglasses. Just minutes after the hearing began, he split some liquid over himself while drinking from a carton. Charles changed his last name to Salvador and is currently being held at a specialist close supervision centre at Woodhill Prison in Buckinghamshire.

It was only the second parole board hearing ever to be held in public. The proceedings taking place at Court 76 at the Royal Courts of Justice were available to watch for the public through a live video link. The panel also heard that Charles leaves his cell only for an hour each day. He is allowed to associate with three other inmates and does not get along with one of them, according to the hearing. In the time out of his cell, he collects his food and goes to the yard or to the gym.

The parole board panel is currently deciding whether or not Charles is still a risk to the public. They are being requested to contemplate transferring Bronson to a less restrictive prison setting known as "open" conditions, which would grant him greater liberty, if they choose not to release him.
