South African actor and model Charlbi Dean’s cause of death has finally been revealed. She died at the age of 32 at a hospital in New York. The New York City Medical Examiner disclosed the cause of her death as bacterial sepsis.

Bacterial sepsis can occur when the body's response to an infection damages its tissues and organs. It can be a very fatal condition.

The actor met with a fatal accident in 2009, which led to a broken wrist, elbow, and four ribs, two damaged vertebrae, and a collapsed left lung. The spleen which is very important for the immune system was removed after the accident. This sepsis was caused by the bacteria called Capnocytophaga. This bacteria is spread due to close contact with dogs or through their bites and scratches.

Contact with the bacteria in the absence of a spleen led to her death.

After her death, Alex Jacobs, Dean’s brother, told Rolling Stone that Dean had been going through some symptoms and called her fiancé Luke Volker to take her to the hospital. She died hours after that.
