Channel 4 alters schedule for Euro 2024 qualifiers, postpones 'The Great British Bake Off' episode

Channel 4's decision to change the airing schedule of 'The Great British Bake Off' has disappointed fans. The network made this unexpected move to broadcast the Euro 2024 qualification matches, specifically England's crucial match against reigning Euro champions Italy.

In order to inform viewers in advance, Channel 4 took to social media to announce the change. They stated, "IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: The football is on tonight so Bake Off And Don't Look Down are on tomorrow night. We are posting this now so we don't get loads of messages at 8pm asking why the Bake Off Tent has been replaced by Wembley."

While some fans expressed disappointment, others responded with humor, suggesting amusing alternatives like setting the Bake Off tent inside Wembley Stadium. Despite the warning, many are still expected to express their discontent with the scheduling change. The competition is becoming more intense as only nine contestants remain in the race for the prestigious title of Britain's best amateur baker, bidding farewell to three bakers last week during 'bread week', a nerve-wracking challenge under the watchful eye of 'bread master' Paul Hollywood.


The show will now air on Wednesday, October 18, at 8 pm, which may create a dilemma for viewers as it will clash with other popular programs such as the BBC's Celebrity Race Across the World and Married at First Sight. However, it's important to note that this delay will not affect the scheduled airing of The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice on Thursday, October 19.
