American mezzo-soprano and journalist Joanna Simon lost her battle with thyroid cancer last Wednesday at the ripe age of 85. And surprisingly enough, her sister, Tony Award-nominated songwriter and singer Lucy Simon, also passed away from metastatic breast cancer on Thursday at 82.

Their other sister, popular singer and musician Carly Simon, expressed that she is saddened to talk about the passing of her siblings, Joanna and Lucy Simon. She added that their loss would be haunting for her. Simon said no matter how sad the news is, it's incomplete to mourn them without celebrating their amazing lives.

Their bond as siblings was quite strong, and she felt like a part of herself was gone. The three sisters took turns taking over the music industry and marking paths for each other.
