A budget is a statement that talks about the income and expenditures of the government and gives a detailed view of the spending of the government on various sectors like health, defense, public services, etc. The statement also reflects the increment and decrement in the tax rates.

What can you expect from Budget 2023?

Mr. Hunt said, “he is unlikely to be able to make “significant” tax cuts.” But keeping in mind the rising cost of living and the plight of citizens, it is expected that the budget will help struggling households.

Following are some sections predicted that will receive some sort of help from the government –
1) Energy Support
As government extends its support for energy bills, its borrowings of government are alarmingly increasing. The energy bill for a household stands at $2500 a year due to a rise of $3000 on 1 April. The chancellor is anticipated to keep the Energy Price Guarantee at current levels for three more months. Opposition parties and campaigners opinionated that low wholesale energy prices have reduced the cost of offering support. For direct debit customers, the government promised to bring prepayment energy charges.
2) Assistance to lower childcare costs
Families who are on universal credit will obtain more help in receiving childcare funding upfront instead of claiming it again. Cap on assistance to claimants of universal credit can also rise up to a great extent. However, childcare support for other families has received a red signal from Mr. Hunt.
3) Tax-free pension allowance is more likely to increase

Currently, the limit stands at $1.07 and can increase up to $1.8 which means that now you can save $60,000 in your pension instead of $40,000.
