Two-year-old Camiyah’s remarkable story

Camiyah had been diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, after her mother found blood in her faeces. The two-year-old underwent some treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital, but her symptoms returned. She was diagnosed with a rare liver disease, and doctor’s advised a transplant.

A donor was found for Camiyah in December 2021, and she underwent surgery a week before her first birthday.

Camiyah was then diagnosed with cancer in her voice box, which developed as a result of the immunosuppressant medication prescribed to her. A biopsy later revealed that the cancer had gone.

However, Camiyah’s tonsils had to be removed. It eased her breathing difficulties.
