Public in the UK want all pupils in primary schools to get meals for free in schools. According to a survey, around 41% of the British people want all primary schoolchildren to get food in schools. Around 33% also voted for families living under the national living wage bracket to qualify for this benefit. The national living wage is around £19,305 a year. It means that 74% want the provision to expand, and only 13% want the status quo to maintain.

The current provision allows children to get free lunches until the end of the second year. They will only be eligible for it afterwards if their caretaker or parent receives certain benefits. Around 6% people supported "no free meals," and 6% didn't know. The public broadly supported the free meal scheme and wanted the children to be properly fed.
