British actor, director Harry Landis passes away at 90

Harry Landis, the actor better recognized and remembered as Mr. Morris in the Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner, passed away. Landis's agent at Sharry Clark Artists announced the news of Harry's death in a Facebook Post. The agency said having a client like Harry was a pleasure and privilege. The actor had a new spurt of popularity in later life with Friday Night Dinner. We will sadly miss him as a client, the agency added.

An Eventful career

He started working early at 15 and had stints at a cafe and a factory. He would spend his free time at the factory reciting dialogues from the play he had watched! Finally, on the prodding of a friend, he went to the Unity theatre and successfully cleared the audition to work there.

After a brief spell with the military, Harry returned to the Unity theatre and got a study grant to join a drama school when he was20.

His first TV appearance was in 1955 (Dixon of Dock green). He continued acting and was also seen in the show's final one, twenty-five years later.

Harry had acted in several films and plays in a career spanning over twenty-five years. The Informers, Private Potter, and Dunkirk are some of the notable films of Harry. He gained a new set of followers late in life with Friday Night Dinner.
