British postal workers are planning biggest strike of the summer on Friday. The union said they were classified as key workers during Covid-19, yet the management had come up with only a two per cent pay hike for them.

When is the strike?
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) said the members would take action and look for a proper and dignified pay rise. DPA news agency reports that the union voted 97.6 per cent in favour of the strike in a ballot. After Friday's strike, there will be additional stoppages on August 31 and September 8 and 9.
The union said they were classified as the key workers during Covid-19, yet the management had imposed only a two per cent pay rise. A union spokesman said that the inflation looks to go up to 18 per cent by January in this economic climate, which will result in a low living standards for workers.
Dave Ward, general secretary of the CWU, said they would see a huge gathering of workers on Friday. The workers will be seen in towns, villages and elsewhere. They are united in the fight against unfair pay rises and look to fight for the proper raise they deserve. He added they can't live in a place where the bosses make billions and the employees have to forcefully use the food banks.
