Bristol road shut down after severe collision in Hengrove involving lorry and cyclist

According to authorities, a route has been closed as a result of a major collision between a cyclist and a lorry with the former dying due to injuries.

At roughly 08:05 GMT, the crash took place in Hengrove at the intersection of Whitchurch Lane and The Boulevard in Bristol. Avon and Somerset Police have blocked Whitchurch Lane in both directions and have set up detours. The female cyclist in her 30s died at the scene in the crash with a lorry.

The Bottle Yard Studios provide access to South Bristol Community Hospital. According to Avon Fire and Rescue Service, teams from Temple, Avonmouth, and Bedminster were dispatched at 08:16 GMT and were assisting police and paramedics in making the situation safe.

Customers could expect delays while bus operators seek alternate routes.

At roughly 8.15 a.m., the force was joined by fire units from Temple, Avonmouth, and Bedminster. Motorists attempting to reach South Bristol Hospital have been hampered by the closure. According to the police, a diversion is in place via The Bottle Yard Studios.
