Brazilian football icon Pele not responding to chemotherapy, moved to end-of-life care: Reports
According to some media reports, Brazilian football icon Pele has been moved to end-of-life care in a hospital. He reportedly no longer responds to chemotherapy treatment. A tumour was removed from his colon in 2021.

Brazilian media outlet Folha de S. Paulo reported that the 82-year-old football legend was no longer responding to chemotherapy, so he was put under palliative care. Pele will reportedly be treated only for symptoms such as shortness of breath and pain.
According to a medical report released on December 2, Pele responded adequately to antibiotic treatment, and there was a "general improvement" in his health status. In September 2021, a tumour was removed from Pele's colon. Since then, he has been receiving hospital treatment regularly.
Pele, through his Instagram post on December 1, said he was at the hospital for a "monthly" check-up. He also posted a picture wherein his face was projected on a building in Qatar, the host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with a message that read, "Get well soon."
Brazilian fans also displayed a sign with the same message at the Lusail Stadium on December 2. Pele is widely considered one of the greatest football players in the history of the game.
