Boxing Day Birmingham Violence: Police reveal identity of dead man as Cody Fisher

Police have revealed the name of the 23-year-old man stabbed to death on the dancefloor of a Birmingham nightclub on Boxing Day. The deceased is identified as semi-professional footballer Cody Fisher. He was fatally injured and later pronounced dead.

In a statement, his family stated that the killer has broken our hearts as Cody. The family and Cody's friends request the press to provide them with some privacy and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time. During the incident at the Crane nightclub in Digbeth, the West Midlands Police were called just before 11:45 pm on Boxing Day.
According to the police investigation,Fisher had been 'enjoying himself with friends' on a night out when he was set upon by a group of people.


Within half an hour, the football star was pronounced dead despite efforts to save him. To clear the air and understand the death of Cody, the West Midlands Police had had launched a murder investigation. Detectives are analysing analysing the CCTV footage to gain some evidence from it and start questioning. Police stated that during that particular night, the nightclub was packed with hundreds of people at the time of the stabbing.


The police revealed that Fisher Fisher played as a defender for Stratford Town FC, who are in the Southern League Premier Division Central. He was left back, who was previously part of Birmingham City FC's academy and played as a Walsall FC youth trainee.

After his talent was spotted, Fisher Fisher made senior appearances for Stratford Town, Stourbridge FC and Bromsgrove Sporting. Back in September 2021, he was named as fans' man of the match after scoring for Bromsgrove in his debut during a 2-0 FA Cup win. He featured for Alvechurch for the year edition of 2018/19 before signing for Stratford Town in September 2018. There was no turning back for Fisher Fisher who went on to establish himself as a first-team regular.

In August 2021, Bromsgrove Sporting announced they were thrilled and overwhelmed to have bagged the youngster and would start campaigning for him. Even former manager Bren Kelly called Fisher Fisher a very good player and had the potential to reach heights because he worked hard and understood his potential.
