Boris Becker, the three-time Wimbledon winner, will be deported from the United Kingdom after being released from prison. The 55-year-old German was freed on Thursday after serving eight months of a two-and-a-half-year sentence. In April, the six-time grand slam winner was sentenced to prison for concealing £2.5 million in assets and loans in order to avoid paying his obligations.

He was first believed to be detained at Wandsworth Prison in southwest London, close to the All England Club, where he won three Wimbledon titles.

However, he was transported to the lower-security Huntercombe jail near Oxford in southern England, which houses foreign prisoners awaiting deportation. He was eligible for removal since he is not a British citizen and got a sentence of more than 12 months in prison.
