The royal tour is a common tradition wherein members of the royal family visit several countries. One such tour was undertaken by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. During the tour, Markle reportedly complained about not being paid for the walkabouts that she had to go through.

The tour was a 16-day tour across Australia, Tonga, Fiji, and New Zealand. It was the couple's first royal tour after their wedding. The couple received a warm welcome everywhere they went as thousands emerged onto the streets to greet them. They attended 76 engagements during their trip.

Valentine Low, the royal correspondent written by The Times, stated in the book that Meghan Markle enjoyed the attention showered on her during the trip. However, she failed to see the logic behind the walkabouts that she had to undertake.

The book also revealed that Markle was considered an inspirational role model for many. Meghan's informal approach to the crowd and to the whole trip was refreshingly different.

She became a hit in Australia. When visiting a farming family, Meghan carried a self-made banana bread which was a thoughtful act. Though she conducted herself with grace and compassion throughout the tour, the behind-the-scenes story is an altogether different ballgame. Some of the anonymous staff members reported that Markle commented that it was surprising that she was not paid for such tours. Markle also wanted to bring in her people instead of the Buckingham Palace staff, but it proved challenging.
