In response to a string of tweets, Joyce Carol Oates recognized that the movie wasn't for everyone but claimed it accurately portrayed Marilyn Monroe's life.
She wrote that Andrew Dominik might have thought Blonde would be recognized as a post-#MeToo period film that exposed male cruelty and physical abuse of women, as well as the denigration of Marilyn Monroe as a victim who was ultimately pushed to commit suicide.
