The film Blackbird, slated for a September 2 opening, is a spy thriller directed by Michael Flatley. Blackbird is Flatley's answer to critics, who regularly say that Michael Flatley is nothing more than a good dancer. The Lord of the Dance and Riverdance star has written, directed and acted in the thriller Blackbird.

Dublin Premiere of Blackbird

Flatley said he wanted to showcase Ireland to the World and want everyone to see the spectacular beauty of North Cork. Michael was speaking at the glittering Irish premiere of Blackbird in Dublin's Lighthouse Cinema. He further added that the movie is a tribute to his late mother besides his love of Ireland. Flatley said I tried to showcase the beauty of the country as much as possible. Everyone must visit stunning Ireland, and the film should do a lot to attract people.

Ignore Criticism and Follow your Dreams

The making of Blackbird was a big challenge. Flatley continued, dressed aptly for the evening in a black Tom ford suit and Armani shoes. Many in the industry had clearly expressed their doubts about Flatley's ability in filmmaking and advised him not to proceed. His critics felt that it is practically impossible to create a good movie after a successful career as a dancer. But Flatley refused to be cowed down and went ahead with his ambitious project.
It is always better to ignore your deters and pursue your dream, was Flatley's message to the youngsters in the audience that night.

Tonight is a big night for me- Flatley became sentimental while dedicating the film to his late mother, who passed away in 2016. He added that his mother, Elish, always wanted to see Michael as an actor on the big screen.
