Fans of murder mysteries now have another show to binge-watch. Kris Marshall is taking the lead in the Death in Paradise's spin off, "Beyond Paradise". His fictional detective, DI Goodman, is tackling crimes on British soil this time.

Executive producer Tim Key of the program told The i that there were many discussions about where they should take it, but added, that they landed very fast on the West Country because they felt that “Devon hadn't got a great deal of exposure in TV drama, and Cornwall frequently nabs the limelight."

Although the program is set in Devon, the majority of the scenes were actually shot in Looe, Cornwall. After searching the West Country for a location with a genuine sense of community, Key claimed that the Cornish town satisfied all of their requirements.

We felt we had found our home there since it was both a charming tourist destination and a flourishing neighbourhood with fishing companies, the producer continued.

Moreover, filming for the program was noticed in Devon's Bere Ferrers and Weir Quay as well as Cornwall's Tamar Valley.

What is Beyond Paradise about?

In the years that follow their will-they-won't-they romance in 2017, DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and fiancée Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) are followed in the series. The main protagonists of the program are now living in Martha's hometown after departing the lush coastlines of Saint-Marie for London in season six.

When Humphrey starts his new job as a police officer and Martha aspires to create a restaurant, episodes will follow the couple. Of course, there will also be a lot of criminal activity. It appears that the first episode of the program would centre on a lady who claims that a character from an antique artwork pushed her down a ladder.
