Bennetts British Superbike 2023: Ryan Vickers switches to Yamaha power, joins Kyle Ryde at OMG Racing

The 23-year-old Ryan Vickers, who won the Junior Superstock category in 2018, is no stranger to the BSB paddock. That season, he won all but two races and secured a more than 100 points lead against his nearest competitor.

He competed in his fourth BSB season in 2022. Vickers also stood in for Leon Haslam for a round at Autodrom Most during his World Superbike entry. Following a wildcard entry in 2018, it was the second appearance on the world stage for the Thetford-based racer.

Vickers said that he’s very pleased to get the opportunity to ride the bike that’s “perceived to be the best” by him and many others on the Bennetts British Superbike Championship grid. He also said he’s delighted to ride with a team that won the championship and impressed many people.


He further said that his love for Yamaha springs from the R6 he rode to win the Superstock 600 Championship; hence, he’s looking forward to riding the R1. He further said that he’s expecting to deliver the “level of success” that OMG Racing is accustomed to.

Vickers also said that he can’t give enough thanks to Paul Curran, and Alan Gardner for “their belief” in his abilities and that he’ll be “working harder than ever” to bring the result the team deserves.

He continued by saying that he understands it's a big thing to step into the boots of the Championship winner. He’s also hoping it to be his best season so far.
