A week after the passing of his cherished grandmother, who sent him one final touching birthday greeting, the Duke of Sussex celebrates his 38th birthday.

What could have been a joyous occasion has been overshadowed by the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. She was the beloved grandmother of the prince and the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

As the rest of the Royal family gets ready for the Queen's burial on Monday, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are still in the UK.

The family posted four pictures on social media on his birthday, including one of the Duke interacting with students in Botswana and another of Harry and Meghan in Australia in 2018.

In her final birthday greeting to Prince Harry, the Queen wished him a happy birthday and addressed him as the Duke of Sussex.

The prince marched from Buckingham Palace to Westminster on Thursday with his father, King Charles III, his brother William, the new Prince of Wales and the Queen's coffin.

Members of the Royal Family stood in a line in front of the casket on its purple-covered catafalque throughout the service.

As it continued, a teary-eyed Prince Harry looked to lose control of himself and was spotted wiping his eyes.

Princess Eugenie of York and Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, were both spotted wiping tears throughout the service too.

The Sussexes were one of the few royal couples, who tightly clasped hands after bowing and curtsying to the coffin once the poignant service was completed and the Queen's family had departed the hall.
