The BBC has announced that it had cancelled 'Autumnwatch'. The seasonal programme was cancelled after 17 years, according to a report.

BBC has stated that the decision was taken due to financially challenging times. BBC also pointed out that it decided to utlize resources on the most impactful content, according to Metro report.

BBC said it would invest more money into sister programmes such as 'Winterwatch', and 'Springwatch' citing these programmes are popular among the viewers, as per the report.


However, 'Winterwatch' will return next year for one week, a decrease from the two weeks, according to the report.

The 'Springwatch' will return in May for three weeks.

'Autumnwatch' is a popular wildlife series. It tracks plants and animals and allow viewers to observe them closely.

Springwatch aired for the first time in 2005. Autumnwatch became a series in 2006. Winterwatch was premiered in 2012.
