Battle of Britain Memorial Flights: Date, schedule for RAF planes fly past

Battle of Britain Memorial Flights are set to take place in the UK.

Battle of Britain Memorial Flights (BBMF) will be held. This will be organized fairs, festivals, village fetes, steam fairs, museums, car shows across the country. Vintage themed event "Haworth 1940s Weekend" will be organised and guest will don costumes to celebrate 40s in Britain. A Spitfire will fly. The Lancaster Bomber was seen flying over West Yorkshire as part of "Lily Day" near Huddersfield. Residents in West Yorkshire and . South Yorkshire saw the RAF plane, according to a report in The Yorkshire Post.

This is to commemorate the Dambusters raids, also known as Operation Chastise. These raids were carried out on May 16 and 17, 1943. Squadron RAF Bomber Command conducted the raids during the World War II.

RAF Bawtry was used as bomber command centre and Yorkshire air crews played a pivotal role. RAF Finningley and RAF Lindholme were also used.

On Saturday, May 20, a Spitfire will fly past over the village at Haworth in West Yorkshire. A BBMF flypast will take place over Sheffield in South Yorkshire.
