Barclays CEO Venkatakrishnan to undergo cancer treatment, says 'will continue to be actively engaged in managing company'
CEO Venkatakrishnan will continue managing the company as he undergoes treatment for cancer. Bank also confirmed that no appointment of interim Chief Executive has been made.

The CEO Venkatakrishnan, also known as Venkat inside the bank, said in a letter that his prognosis is “excellent,” and his condition is curable as per doctors. The treatment is expected to last 12 to 16 weeks in New York.
He also mentioned in the letter that “the company will run normally” during this period and he’ll be “actively engaged” in managing it.
The bank confirmed through a spokesperson that no interim Chief Executive is appointed, and the company will continue to be run by the lender’s executive committee and Venkat.
