Bank Holiday Monday, August 28: Opening and closing time for major supermarkets in the UK

Stores like M&S, Aldi, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, and others may have different operating hours on the summer bank holiday this Monday. Check out the timings.

Britons woke up to a holiday this Monday, August 28, after a long weekend, as it is the August Bank Holiday at the opening of the week. On account of the public holiday on Monday, supermarkets and stores in the UK may have different opening and closing hours.

Here are the opening times for Aldi, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, M&S and other supermarkets for Monday, August 28, 2023:


Aldi

All Aldi stores will be open from 8 am until 8 pm on Monday, August. 28, in England and Wales. While in Scotland, Aldi will be open until 10 pm as usual.


Tesco

On August 28, Tesco superstores may have reduced opening hours from 8 am to 6 pm in England and Wales and will be open until 8 pm in Scotland. Please check the Tesco website.

ASDA

Some ASDA branches in the UK will close at 8 pm, while others are set to close at 10 pm on August 28. Please check the ASDA website for storewise timings.

Morrisons

Morrisons Superstores will close at 8 pm on August 28.

Sainsbury’s

Hypermarket Sainsbury’s bigger stores will be open between 8 am and 8 pm on August 28, while the smaller stores will be open from 7 am to 11 pm as usual on the holiday.

Waitrose

Waitrose stores will be open, as usual, between 7.30 am to 9 pm on August 28, while the Little Waitrose stores may be open from 7 am to 10 pm.

Iceland

The Iceland shops will be open from 7 am / 8 am until 7 pm on August 28. But the Iceland stores inside shopping centres may be closed on the holiday.

Greggs

On August 28, some Greggs stores are closed. The open Greggs stores on the bank holiday will operate until 4 pm or 5 pm only. Please check the Greggs website before visiting.

M&S

All Marks & Spencer stores will be open in the UK on August 28. However, some M&S stores may close earlier than usual on this Monday.

August 28 is also the last bank holiday for the next few months until Christmas on December 25, 2023.
