Asda surprises thousands of customers with free cash ahead of Christmas
Shoppers at Asda received a free £5 gift as part of the store's loyalty programme when staff members noted a few customers were having technical difficulties.

Before being applied, rewards are placed into a cash pot within their account. However, there have been problems with the rewards program's banks needing to update, which prevented thousands of buyers from receiving their prizes.
Customers expressed dissatisfaction that the money had disappeared and, in some cases, had been utilised. The retail behemoth has since added £5 for free to make up for those who missed out.
One customer said that the project had been dubbed a co-worker incentive to ensure that the accounts could be topped up with the free money in time for Christmas.
Already, several client pots have received credits. We've asked Asda when it anticipates finishing up all payments, and the money has already been put into many consumers' jars.
We've asked Asda to check statements made on Facebook that there is no minimum purchase requirement to receive the $5. Customers can obtain the £5 without doing anything.
Customers typically need to finish "missions" to add money to their pots. Customers who recently lost Asda Rewards are urged to contact Asda customer support or visit their local store to speak with employees.
