A crowd crash at a Brixton Academy concert in South London has left four people in critical condition.

The Brixton Academy had organized a music concert in South London on Thursday night. At the concert, the crowd got out of control of the authorities and led to a crowd crash. A total of 8 people are reported to be injured and were rushed to hospital, out of which 4 are in critical condition.

At 9:35 PM, a call about a crowd crash was made to the emergency services. They immediately reached the location and got the crowd under control. But before they could go, eight people had already been injured.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the state of these eight people that is when it was revealed that four of them were in critical condition.


The music concert was of Asake, a Nigerian singer who had many fans in the region. Several fans were reported to have been locked outside in the freezing cold as the concert was at maximum occupancy. But that didn't stop the fans, who decided to crash the gate. That is what led to the crowd crash.

A video was released where you can see the police and emergency services dealing with the crowd. The police have warned the public not to share disturbing footage of the scene on social media. They also acknowledge that their officials are aware of their duties and actions and will be accountable if anything goes wrong due to their use of force.

Shortly after the event, Lambeth Police posted a tweet where they acknowledged the situation at the Brixton Academy and the critical condition of four people and told that their officials would be present till the entire crowd had been disbursed.

The show was cancelled due to a security breach. They announced on the stage that around 3,000 people had crashed the gate and entered the concert illegally, which was a potential threat to everyone present. The announcement was followed by rage and uproar from the audience. They continuously booed the announcer. A refund will be issued for all the purchased tickets.

The Metropolitan Police said that they were called at 9:35 PM to the scene. They are investigating the circumstances that led to four people being critically injured.
