On Friday, people will pause to mark Armistice Day throughout the UK as the foreign secretary slams Russia for reviving war in Europe.

On the anniversary of the First World War’s end, morning services will be conducted throughout the country, and at 11 a.m, there will be a two-minute silence to honour the people who lost their lives.





The National Memorial Arboretum’s Armistice Day service will be attended by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Services will also be held in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, and Portsmouth. In 1919, King George V hosted Raymond Poincaré, the president of France at the time, at Buckingham Palace for the first memorial events.

King Charles will lay a poppy wreath with a ribbon in racing colours of crimson, purple, and gold during the service, which the Prince and Princess of Wales will also attend. The wreath, which will be laid by Prince William, will include white feathers and a fresh Welsh red ribbon.

On Friday, the UK will also mark Remembrance Sunday at 11:00 GMT, Big Ben will sound its 11th bell to signal the start of the two minutes of silence. The Royal British Legion declares that 'This year we’re urging the public to pause, breathe, and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf.'
