Amazon Prime Video has announced a documentary on the life and achievements of renowned snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Titled "Ronnie O'Sullivan: The Edge of Everything," the feature-length film will delve into the world of the esteemed athlete, examining both his personal obstacles and the pressures he faced following his success.

Th documentary, which is scheduled to release later this month, is produced by Studio 99-David Beckham's production company.

In 2021, O'Sullivan granted unprecedented access to his life as he contemplated a future beyond the world of snooker. This decision allowed viewers a firsthand glimpse into his personal life and the individuals who have played a crucial role in his journey.

As the snooker legend approached a pivotal moment in his career — aiming for a record-breaking seventh win at the Snooker World Championship — the cameras captured his struggle with the darker aspects of competition, elements he had hoped to leave behind. Director Sam Blair, known for the acclaimed film "Maradona '86," leads the exploration into O'Sullivan's ability to perform at the highest level despite his ongoing battle with inner demons.

The documentary delves into the intricacies of O'Sullivan's genius, shedding light on his past through previously unseen family footage and tracing his rise to fame from his early teenage years. The documentary also features intimate interviews with O'Sullivan, along with his close family, friends, and competitors, including Damien Hirst, Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones, and snooker legends Jimmy White and Stephen Hendry.

Talking about the documentary, O'Sullivan said, "My journey, with all its ups and downs, has been well-documented by the media. However, I felt the time was right for a more definitive portrayal, something that I can reflect on as I consider retirement. As I approached my seventh World Championship, I had doubts about my abilities, but allowing the cameras in ultimately motivated me and offered me a different perspective."

The documentary will debut exclusively in cinemas across the UK on November 21, accompanied by a live Q&A session with O'Sullivan and Beckham, who serves as the executive producer. Subsequently, it will be available for streaming exclusively on Amazon's Prime Video starting November 23.
