Richard Masters, chief executive, Premier League, met with three campaign groups in the summer and mandated that every player and employee should receive sexual consent education.

According to The Telegraph reports, the Football Association would introduce new restrictions in response to claims against players this season. However, while presenting such teaching farther down the football pyramid is being considered, there have been no moves to enact legislation to suspending players suspected of rape.

The Premier League has held workshops for Under-14s through Under-23s academy and first-team players to educate them on sexual relationships, consent, sexual harassment and bullying. Still, senior professionals were not required to attend.

Now, clubs that fail to implement the new training face disciplinary punishment. The Premier League met with the campaign groups 'End Violence for Women', the 'Three Hijabis', and 'Level Up' to develop these new regulations.

Before this, they had issued an open letter to Richard Masters, the league's chief executive and Mark Bullingham, an FA executive, requesting that they "confront a culture of gender-based abuse."

Shaista Aziz, co-director, Three Hijabis, has welcomed the decision of the Premier League to approve the action plan to combat gender-based violence in football.

It follows claims made against a football player this summer.

Aziz stated that despite the revisions, the new regulations did not meet all of her organization's requirements. In addition, they want automatic suspensions for any player arrested on suspicion of rape.

A FA representative told The Telegraph that FA condemns violence and prejudice of any sort, including misogyny and encourages anyone, who has been a victim or witness of this type of behaviour to report it to the police. The relevant authorities can then conduct a further investigation following the conclusion of any criminal or statutory investigation.
