Alessandro Michele steps down as Gucci’s creative director, 'there are times when paths part ways'

On Wednesday, November 23, Gucci announced that its renowned Rome-born designer and creative director Alessandro Michele is stepping down.

Fashion Icons were always fond of Michele and his attractive fashion collection, and this came as a shock to many. What came after this was even more shocking when Michele hinted to his followers that this was maybe due to the clash of different perspectives through his controversial statement.

Michele started his Gucci journey in 2002, and in May 2011, he became the associate creative director. Soon after, he was named the creative director in January 2015, after he successfully pulled off a popular menswear show in less than a week left by his predecessor. Before joining Gucci, Michele worked as an accessories designer for Fendi.

Why did Michele have to step down?

Although the Rome-based designer did not reveal why he was laid off, he just left with a twisted statement regarding cross perspectives. Sources say that Michele could have executed a stronger design shift.

They further revealed that Francois-Henri Pinault, the Chairman of Kering (Gucci’s parent company), strongly requested to change the pace of designs that had to be undertaken by Michele.
