UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak who has been preparing for the budget due on the November 17 along with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, had declared earlier that he wouldn't attend the COP27 meet. The decision brought a lot of flak from lawmakers across party lines, with even a suggestion that Boris Johnson might attend in his place.

Alok Sharma, the convenor of the meeting, tweeted his disappointment that Rishi Sunak would not attend the summit. The British Prime Minister immediately reversed his earlier decision and said he would attend the summit, much to Alok Sharma's delight.

The opposition lawmakers Caroline Lucas from the Green Party welcomed the idea with an icy comment calling it a "screeching U-turn". She also warned the Prime Minister saying let that be a lesson as climate matters.

Deputy Labour Leader Angela Rayner called it equally upsetting that the leader was forced to do the right thing by being dragged into the event after he was embarrassed by Boris Johnson's attendance.
